Mapping Project Underway
1/26/2007 6:30:00 PM

I've been hard at work on yet another project for the site.  I've been building a mapping system of important places in our lives.  It uses Google Maps (or Google Earth) for the mapping engine, and allows us to overlay our points on the map.  It's actually pretty interesting.

Google Earth is a pretty cool program.  The mapping data looks way better with Google Earth than Google Maps.

See the my mapping page for details and links.

New Content Control code posted
1/19/2007 4:58:00 PM

I've posted an update to the Content Control in the Projects section of the site.

After much pondering, I decided to perform a rewrite on it.  Originally, it was a server control (entirely code-based).  I rewrote it as a user control (markup and code).  It's greatly simplified; and the code is a lot cleaner.  I've updated the project on SourceForge as well.

In addition, I've coded up a PHP port of the same concept.  Although I don't work in PHP much, Wick had use for it.  The PHP version, with a sample project is also included in the Content Control area of Projects section.

New blog is in!
1/12/2007 4:26:00 PM

I've got the new blogging system in place now.  I've converted both Jessa's blog and my own to the new format.  It should look mostly the same; just with some new options.

The new system has support for tagging posts and also offers a monthly archive of older posts.  It's all done with an ASP.Net server control; based off the same tech as the Content Control.

Let me know if you encounter any problems.  I've gone back and tagged all the old posts for easy searching.

After the new Blogging Control is proven and tested; I'm going to release it to SourceForge, just like it's earlier relative, the Content Control.
